New TomTom App for “i” People

The new era of cell phone technology has ushered in the use of smartphones, phones that can do just about anything really. Of course we can’t begin to talk about smartphones without mentioning the smartest phone around, the iPhone (no bias here of course).

It would appear there is little Apple’s “i” products can’t do without the right App. I myself have been brain storming concepts for Apps, some granted may be ridiculous and have been shot down by my colleagues, (Rest In Peace – Jennifer Aniston Locator App).

However whilst my future as a multimillionaire App designer may be uncertain, one App all iPhone and iPad users should not be without is the TomTom GPS App.

The new version of this App integrates TomTom navigation with Facebook™ and Twitter™ allowing users to navigate to friends, places and events with more ease. Customers who already have the App will be able to download the new features for free.

The TomTom App for iPhone and iPad will be the first to use social networks as a source for turn-by-turn navigation. It can automatically plan routes based on information from Facebook events, places and friends. Drivers can also use the App to share their destination and arrival time on Twitter, Facebook, by email and SMS text.

“According to recent studies, the vast majority of iPhone users use Facebook on their iPhone” says Daan Henderickx, TomTom South Africa Country Manager. “By integrating Facebook features into our TomTom App we make navigating to places, events and seeing friends even easier.”

New Features found in version 1.10 of the TomTom App for iPhone and iPad:

• Uses Facebook places, events and friends as a source of turn-by-turn navigation.

The current version of The TomTom App for iPhone/iPad already offers drivers:

The new TomTom App will be available within Q1 2012.
