Middle East boasts world’s most expensive car
Having recently spent a couple days in the Middle East (Dubai specifically), I can tell you two things. Firstly, it’s really just a big desert. Once you’ve realised this fact you’re expectations will be realigned appropriately for the general experience – which, if you’re not obsessed with shopping or a panel member on the Dragons Den, is quite average.
They do have one thing going for them however, which brings me to my second point. Oil. They have a lot of it and it sure shows. There’s no such thing as the “global economic turndown” in the Middle East – skyscrapers continue to rise, foreign workers continue to flock and the demand for supercars knows no bounds.
The only problem being that their exotics have to be shipped from Europe – which sometimes means a bit of a wait. Well not anymore, because at the upcoming Qatar Motor Show, the first ever Arab-built hypercar is set to be unveiled.
From the garage of W Motors comes the striking Lykan Hypersport – a car that sets its sights on the Bugatti’s and Koenigsegg’s of the world, something that from a price point of view it manages with ease. In fact, at R31 000 000, it beats its European rivals to a pulp to take the title of the world’s most expensive car.
The Lykan Hypersport is more than just a price tag though. Sporting a 563Kw, twin-turbo flat-six jammed in behind the driver, this Arab rocketship can apparently hit 100km/h in 2.8 seconds (that’s faster than Lamborghini’s Aventador) and head on to a mind bending top speed of 392km/h.
It doesn’t end there either, because what would that mental price tag and insane speed be without a little luxury? Well, that’s if you consider diamond-encrusted LED lights, gold-stitched leather and suicide doors ‘a little luxury’. Not to mention the state-of-the-art 3D Virtual Holographic Display with Tactile Interaction and a revolutionary LD4Motion interactive dashboard (yip, I don’t know what those are either). They’re also kind enough to throw in a special edition Cyrus Klepcy watch at no charge – bargain!
To round things off, W Motors is guaranteeing exclusivity by only producing seven Lykan Hypersport’s in the near future. Best get queuing early then, Mr Sheik.
