Get your apocalypse on!
We have all seen the signs; strange virus outbreaks, psychotic drug addicts eating people’s faces, hazmat teams being called in around the globe. The Sci-fi fans among us will no doubt have already started preparing for the impending zombie apocalypse. Hey, maybe the Mayans will get it right in the end.
Regardless of whether you are a true believer in the paranormal, film geek or paranoid house wife most people will tell you their survival plan to avoid the our new un-dead friends. Whilst hauling ass away from cities makes the most sense, and the temptation to hijack a bitching sports car to do so may seem very appealing is it you best bet when it comes to post-apocalyptic transport?
Whilst we try to keep our zombie paranoia in check here at DriveRSA the team have none the less come up with their preferred zombie proof rides.
The Dartz Prombron, known as a luxury tank, came out as Miles’ ride of choice. Tipped as the fasted luxury armoured all-road vehicle in the world the Prombron boasts protection from 12.7mm heavy machinegun bullets, armouring normally used for light tanks. The interior of the Prombron will have survivors riding in the luxury; just imagine chilling mad max style as you roll through the wastelands.
Whilst the Prombron checked most of our boxes, Dave was looking for something a little more sleek and stylish. Enter the Hyundai Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Edition. With rudimentary living quarters, a guardrail fence around the sunroof and a battering ram to smash through masses of the walking dead this Elantra is sure to carve out a niche market in the end of the world car market. The unique one-off is the brain child of Robert Kirkman, Walking Dead comic creator, who noted that the car should help survivors “not get eaten by zombies”.
Now while I do acknowledge the merit in my colleagues choices, my zombie paranoia lead me to what I believe to be the ultimate survival tool; the Conquest Knight XV. This handcrafted fully armoured SUV is a one-of-a-kind, V10, 6.8-litre, Bio-fuel powered SUV. With the production of the KNIGHT XV will be limited to 100 vehicles it might be a bit of a mission to locate one before having my brains featured on the midnight menu but sometimes you have to take a few risks.
Ultimately should the zombie boys rock up on our front lawn, most of us will be found running away screaming, but to those lucky enough to find one of these beast. . . I’ll be the guy madly trying to wave you down, I promise not to be a zombie. . .
